M. Eric Olmstead | 2020 Employment Law Legislative Update

LegislativeUpdate2019

Each year, new laws are passed through the state and federal legislature which impact our workplace climate. M. Eric Olmstead is a foremost expert, here in Southern Utah, on employment laws that define our workplace landscape, and, we are proud to present Eric’s 2020 employment law legislative update presentation for your benefit and consideration.

Eric presented his annual employment law legislative update at the recent meeting for Color Country Human Resource Association (CCHRA), a fellowship of Human Resource Managers in Southern Utah. Eric Olmstead currently serves as Legislative Chair for the CCHRA, which is affiliated with the Utah HR State Council and the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Human Resource Certification Institute.

Eric is also a shareholder with the awarded law firm, Barney McKenna & Olmstead, P.C. (BMO). BMO offers a full range of employment and labor law services, including legal counsel on employment relationships to employers of all sizes and across a wide range of industries.

BMO’s attorneys apply proven experience and employment-law skills to prevent employment and labor problems by establishing policies and procedures that keep our clients in compliance with the law.  We educate and guide our clients through the complex set of federal and state regulatory employment and labor laws and provide our clients with aggressive representation if litigation is necessary.

Eric believes that the best approach to employment law problems is to minimize and eliminate the causes of employee dissatisfaction, regulatory action, and ensuing litigation.  We work together with our clients’ human resources staff to create personnel practices and policies that minimize exposure to employee complaints, governmental agency actions and other related problems, and inform employees about their workplace and procedures.  We can review, draft and negotiate employment contracts as well as non-compete and confidentiality agreements. We advise our clients on what the law requires on issues like wage claims, discrimination, harassment, disability and family leave.  We can review and determine our client’s compliance with its legal obligations related to labor and employment law issues.
